Understood. I was just going with the logic that many bamboos if they are the same species will flower at approximately the same time.

I have had great luck with a number of plants Fargesia and Phyllostachys species the best places are along the Wasatch Front anywhere Layton to Price I have seen some good looking plants although you have a much more limited selection to choose from.

According to the neighbor the plant is a Spectabils. So it is a Yellow Groove variety

I will get a positive ID on this one but all that I could see hanging over the fence at my friends house indicated yellow groove and it looked like Harbin to me but I will have to ask his neighbor if he has an ID for his plant.

The use of the systemic may cause some problems with beneficial mites that may feed on the bad mites. If you are looking for good deals on the mites I have been buying my stuff from a company called Green Methods.com and another called Arbico.
