Re: New arrivals! G. atroviolacea and B. chungii!

The bamboo are doing decently, there has been some leaf drop but nothing major except on the more sun exposed culms of Gigantochloa which have 1leaf left or got leafless. The more shaded ones retained all leafs and grew noticeably. Hope the others grow new leafs again as well! Yesterday,I ground plan...

Re: One rhizome through another

Thats crazy! Were both rhizomes alive one or was the split one dead? My father had told me that the rhizomes of a kind of local grass pierces right through other plants it finds on its way, doesn't turn. So it was a problem for them as it pierced through potato tubers and whatever it found on its way...

Re: Bamboo seeds...

I see... Thank you very much Nicholas! They are just starting to germinate so I should hopefully get an idea what they are. Gigantochloa grows big leafs so anything small leafed won't be what I ordered. But a friend of mine has plenty of space and we will be growing them out and in ground starting n...

Re: Bamboo seeds...

Thank you very much for your replies! These are from a supposedly well reputed seller from the German site for bamboo seeds,so they should surely at least be bamboo seeds but would be awesome if they truly are G. atroviolacea instead of a random species...Unfortunately,from the photos i found of Gig...

I just got the Gigantochloea atroviolacea seeds in the mail. Re: Phyllostachys vivax?

Some very interesting species that it could be! :) From the photos,I don't think is praecox violascens as that species had a violet tinge on the lower part of the internodes while my friend's doesn't at all as far as I remember. I wish it would shoot now to get done with the ID
