Bamboo help please
I have 18 plantings of bamboo in my backyard that are about 15 feet tall. They were field dug and have been in the ground about four months. Some of the rhizomes are now five to six feet. I live in Zone 7, Memphis TN, and the plants are in full sun. Rhizome barrier was used. I am planning on buildin...

Re: Ground cover for bamboo
Thanks for the input. I will add a few pictures below. I hate to have to look at all these weeds for several years waiting on the grove to establish. Needmore, what were your experiences with periwinkle? My idea is to get a vine type plant that grows fast and is good with full sun to partial shade, ...

Ground cover for bamboo
I am looking for an evergreen ground cover that can grow under bamboo. I just started my bamboo this season, henon, spectabilis, and bissetii. I have 18 field dug plantings that were 10 to 15 feet tall with about 12 to 16 inch root balls planted in early April. They are spread evenly over a 150' dis...

Yellow Groove vs. Spectabilis
What are your opinions on one vs. the other? They are basically the same plant right? Does that mean they both grow at the same speed, to the same height, and grow just as dense as one another? I am trying to decide which one to go with, or to just mix the two. I live in zone 7. Thanks

Re: Need some bamboo advice
dependable- Thanks for the good information. T9D- I had not considered Vivax, only because I thought it would be too big for the area? I will definitely till up the area before I plant, and mix in some compost too. I considered cutting down the tree, and then decided to leave it, I was told it was a...

Need some bamboo advice
I am planting some bamboo, partially for a screen and partially for fun. I am new to bamboo and would like your opinion on my plan so far. The bamboo area I am planting makes an upside down "U" shape in my backyard following a fence line. I have three areas for planting, the back-left side...

Looking for Bamboo in or around Memphis Tennessee
Hello, I live outside Memphis Tennessee and I am looking for some bamboo. There is not a bamboo nursery anywhere close by that I am aware of. I am interested in Auerosulcata, Auerosulcata spectabilis, bissetii, atrovaginata, and Dulcis. I would also consider similar species. Do any of you know of an...
