I am hoping this will be the case with mine

Re: B. tuldoides cv swollen Internode - Cool Buddha
I think those would have to be Tuldoides shoots, no Ventricosa involved and the story on this bamboo is supposed to be the reliable bellying as opposed to Ventricosa which is unreliable - sounds like you are not seeing that yet? For my two B ventricosa the bellying seems to have nothing to do with ...

B. tuldoides cv swollen Internode - Cool Buddha
I planted my B. tuldoides cv swollen Internode in June this year and it has put out a few zig zag shoots but not really producing the bellies. Not sure if that comes with maturity or if it needs to be more stressed. Anyone have experience growing this bamboo? I plan on posting pictures when I get a ...

Re: Air-pot for bamboo
I think you would be better off with the smart pot (fabric pot) price wise. I read in one review that since the air pot is narrow growing larger plants like bamboo are more likely to tip over. Both of these pots have the same benefit of providing a breathable container which provides better root gro...

Re: Help identifying clumping bamboo.
Both Asian lemon and Sunburst both have lower branching. Could the owner have pruned it? Sunburst tend to have slightly smaller leaves than the Asian lemon. Is there green culms in the clump? Could be bambusa emeiensis Flavidovirens if it does.

Re: Bamboo and Couch grass
Depends on how much they are overrunning the plant. In any-case I would add good compost and mulch the area around the bamboo for better success and to help keep the weeds and grass away

Re: Need advise on building "secret bamboo garden"
Looks great! My only concern would be what type of bamboo is growing up against the house? New shoots can shoot up into the eaves of the house causing damage and allowing bugs a way in . I would recommend something smaller or something you can hedge.

Re: Clumping Black Bamboo in subtropical area
Just an Update. I gave up on the black clumping bamboo after talking to many experienced growers and the feed back here. I have added to my current collection this year by purchasing 2 newly released bamboos from tropical bamboo. Bambusa tuldoides cv 'Swollen Internode (Cool Buddha) Its similar to t...

Re: Clumping Black Bamboo in subtropical area
My D. Minor (angel mist) has done well regarding the cold. But most of my clumps are close to my house which offers some protection. I’m also a firm believer that bamboos acclimate to cold, within a few degrees, if given enough exposure. I’ve had the same species planted side by side and have had m...
