Vole/ Gophers & Rhizome Barriers
Hi! Do Rhizome Barriers also act as gopher control? I finally have a large piece of land and want to plant a running bamboo, but it's full of gophers or voles - haven't seen them personally. I won't use poison because of the dogs. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Help... Oldhamii laying on it's side
Hi - My Oldhamii after it rains is literally laying on it's side (from the weight of the water I guess).
It's fairly young, is this just with the younger weaker culms? If you have any experience with this issue, some advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Oldhamii Culm Speed
Hi - out of three plants, planted in late August, Two put forth new culms - and when they get to about 5' they slow way down. The third is basically two sticks, taken from a more mature plant I assume because of their width. Lots of fresh leaves, but no new culms yet. Think it's storing energy becau...

Oldhamii Rhizome Depth.
Hi, I was wondering about the average depth of rhizomes for Oldhamii. Mainly for two reasons.
Sometimes when digging around, I worry about disturbing them, also, If I didn't want it to spread to a certain area of the garden how deep of a barrier would I need to put.
Thanks!
Scott

Re: RE: Heat Water and Boo Food
I know I should be more careful about measuring, but I just put a little in an instant coffe container, mix with water and give it to a plant. So far no overdose noticed. I guess it's all natural.serenityinbamboo wrote: It says it is extreme concentration, 2000 gallon drop-a-gallon.

RE: Heat Water and Boo Food
Hi,
I've also used the Superthrive, and it seems to have helped keep plants alive in situations that are less than favorable.
There's some who call it alot of bunk, but for myself, it really seems to have helped. It's a little pricey though.

RE: Watering...
Thanks! I thought maybe I should have him do it over, but do you think it would be a huge shock to them at this point? I won't seem him again until next Thursday, maybe I should just do it myself this weekend. Mike in Houston said not to worry, that they grow roots from submerged nodes, Does anybody...

Watering...
Hi, My gardener took upon himself to plant my oldhamii when I wasn't home, and he planted it EASILY 1/2 foof or more too low - that is below the level of the rest of the yard. The whole area turns into a pool when I water it. Being clay soil it takes a long time for it to sink in. I wanted a raised ...

I sure hope I don't over or under water them, One seems a little shocked. Their leaves curl off and on a little which worries me. RE: Should I worry of "INVASION" ????
Thanks Kinder & Roy! Jake told me to ask you Roy about your 'block' method. It looks real simple. And a great idea. Do the Rhizomes stop when they poke up against the surface, or will they continue until they can find an opening? I'm going this weekend to pick up my oldhamii (or myhammy  )...
