Re: Bambusa venticosa flowering
Brad any viable flowers. I haven't been pay much attention to mine but will check them all tomorrow. one of the clones comes from a plant put in the ground in the early sixtys just after hurricane Carla in Seadrift Tx. it should be old enough to start flowering.

Re: Bambusa malingensis and coming freeze
How did your malingensis fare? I live down the coast in Seadrift and all my clumpers are hard hit including my malingensis. Even the multiplex varietys are hurt bad. Going to have to wait and see what will recover.

Re: Best bamboo irrigation
Clumpers tend to swallow up irrigation systems. I would on leave a system in for a season and then use it elsewhere.

If I remember the story right there were six Parkers grown from seed. Maybe yours is a different clone?

Re: R.I.P. Parker’s Giant
Correction the rest isn't dead. Two small shoots and a (what I ll call) a flowering branch are coming up. I think I will hit it with veggie fertilizer maybe that will get the flowers to do what momma nature intended. Sure like to get seed off of it.

Re: R.I.P. Parker’s Giant
mine still has a weird bunch of flowers that appear to be alive the rest is dead. the weird flowers make a ball around the branch which showed no where else maybe they will put out stamens and actually do some thing keeping fingers crossed.

Re: Help IDing this issue.
You got bugs of some sort (aphids maybe) the black is sooty mold they produce. Insecticidal soap might get rid of them.

Re: dying bamboo grove
If have access to a chipper/sheader I would chop up the dead culms and leaves and use it for mulch. It has all the good stuff your boo needs.
