I have tried planting Moso on 3 different occasions and no luck what so ever. Seeing as all the other bamboo I have planted, I have had success with, I would say it really is temperamental...lol

Steve, It has been in the ground about 6 - 6 1/2 years now (I am so bad at time). Unfortunately when I had organized my photobucket account some with categories, I didn't realize I would lose the dates if I didn't type them in :( I have also noticed that a lot of the links to my previous picture pos...

In my personal experience, most new shoots can not take a hard freeze and will abort. I mulch heavy for the winter to protect the rhizomes to ensure the future of the boo. Good luck!

Update...third year going to seed and the old girl gave out!.....but she did leave me two new babies this year!! Last year's little ones are about three feet tall now, but not showing any variation in culm....just green

This is my Rubro...coming up in the horse stall 20 feet away and diving again!... Root pruning twice a year in Florida, just not enough :lol:

took this picture today to try to show more of the east to west growth, still could not get all in frame and unfortunately the weather did not want to cooperate...everything is just greening up from our plunge to the 20's a couple weeks ago..which we are expecting again this weekend...wacky weather ...

Nope...no tricks as you can tell by the barn...now you see it...now you just see the roof :lol: Kinda why I am afraid :wink: of this years' growth, especially since it is already sending up small shoots! It definitely likes where it is at.
