Re: Watering schedule for Thamnocalamus tessellatus
Yes....the plants have only been in the ground for a week. I actually just pulled them up last night and raised the bed. Gave them a shot of the Biotone Starter Plus this afternoon. While I don't know how much the product will work with these temps, I have brought sickly shrubs and small trees back ...

Re: Making a Home Depot Planter Box
FYI.....I had an oversized industrial cement planter (@3x3x3) that I planted some P. Nigra in. The plant looked great for 2 years and then this past year I started to notice a change. I opted to give the plant away to a list member here as a donatation, since I needed the planter for some new honeys...

Re: Watering schedule for Thamnocalamus tessellatus
Thanks for the advice.....the only thing I did not do is plant them on a raised bed. I had ordered the plants 3 weeks ago, and was hoping to get them sooner since we were still having really good weather. I just wanted to get them in the ground as quickly as possible to establish their roots..... es...

Watering schedule for Thamnocalamus tessellatus
Just received my 2 Thamnocalamus tessellatus from the bamboo sourcery last week. Kept them watered and indoors for a few days to adapt a bit to the CA weather climate. I had just planted them several days ago in the ground , and was wondering how much water to give them, with our Jersey temps being ...

Re: Need help....what is best clumper for NJ
Hi Moriphen....Thanks for the info on the Thamnocalamus tessellatus. When I went on the bamboo garden's website, it shows this plant at +5 deg. I wonder how accurate it is, esp. since your plants are doing fine. I can't believe that it is taking on full sun as well...which is what I am looking for. ...

Need help....what is best clumper for NJ
Hey everyone....I am unfortunatley looking to remove my boo grove this fall, donating the plants to a family member. It's only a 2 year grove so I still have what looks like individual plants. The reason why is for another post. I am looking for some clumping boo to plant in my soon to be empy...

Surprise plant in my grove.
I have been wondering why I have been getting soo many butterflies landing in my 1 yr. old grove recently. I went onto my neighbor's property around the back, and found some fragrant honeysuckle all twined into my boo. Needless to say I was not happy, esp. since boo was only planted early last year ...

Re: Jiuzhaigou disease...please help
I will try and upload a few pics very soon. I did notice that some powdery balls were webby as well. For the time being, I took my garden hose and used the "jet" spray to sort of power wash them off. I purchased an organic insecticide that treats like 25 different diseases. Gave it a good ...

Jiuzhaigou browning
My Jiuzhaigou has been looking a little brown the past week, and now it seems it may have acquired a disease. Towards the bottom of the plant, I see these little white clumps at the top of the nodes. When I touch it, it breaks apart and crumbles like a powder. Can anyone tell me what type of disease...

Re: is pyrethrin safe for bamboo.
Hey Guys.....thanks for the info. I found this stuff on a website as an alternative to the pyrethrin. It's a green product and appears as though may be a better choice. http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/eco-exempt-mc-misting-concentrate-emulsifier-p-521.html If someone could take a look at this prod...

is pyrethrin safe for bamboo.
Hey guys, I am looking to install a mosquito misting system in my backyard to keep the mosquito's and bugs away. I noticed that there are a variety of concentrated chemical sprays that can be utilized into these systems. One of main ingredients is pyrethrin. I have read the the chemical is organic a...
