I found this just a few feet from my front door at the base of an elephant ear. I have a lot of this grass around. Not 100% sure on the id but I think that it is Microstegium vimineum, called "Bamboo Grass" and "Japanese Stiltgrass". I was hoping it would be a perennial, but it is not. It's pretty invasive, but I'm not sure that would stop me from trying to propagate it if I new how to keep an annual in perpetuity via asexual reproduction. This is just one branch on the grass, so it is a branch sport. I realize it's not the greatest picture, but I've been working long hours and we've had lots of rain, so it's been hard to find an optimal moment to take the picture.

Re: Variegated Bamboo Grass
I just spent 4 hours string trimming, pulling, mowing and cursing stiltgrass. Everywhere, worst invader I've got.

So, you're saying you wouldn't want some rare variegated stiltgrass in exchange for, oh I don't know, some of that 'Harbin' maybe?needmore wrote:I just spent 4 hours string trimming, pulling, mowing and cursing stiltgrass. Everywhere, worst invader I've got.
