Eucalyptus

This Eucalyptus got so big I couldn't dig it last autumn and haul it into the greenhouse. Just noticed this!

They are known to do this. If they completely freeze, there is a chance they recover from the soil level. I was hoping my eucalyptus gunii will do the same, but it was just way too damaged. Bark peeled off completely. It should not have a lot of problems with our winters. It can handle temperatures down to -18°C, but it just couldn't survive this winter when it didn't thaw for months.
