My son visited Bellingrath Gardens today with his family, I couldn't go because I had to spend all day on the weedeater and mower.
My granddaughter Ryleigh in the Moso grove, notice the blow downs from Katrina.
Those pictures are darling! OK, I'm usually noticing the 'boo in every setting, above all else, but your granddaughters steal the show. My little girl just turned 17, so I guess I'm all... nostalgic for those "little" days.
those are great photos- I love the bridge/walkway with the bamboo growing by it. I wish we had some contour on our property so I could do something like that!
its OK Marci... you can borrow a couple of mine any time and be carefull what you wish for..... I KNOW you are not ready to be called GRANDMA!

Nothing a bulldozer and dump truck couldn't fix

You have twice the kiddos I have, and I want to give mine away at times. I couldn't imagine having to deal with any more.

Or a staircase - walkway - staircase combo.
That's very true... just put in an elevated walkway. The Houston zoo has a great bamboo collection in their monkey display. 1/2 of the path through the bamboo is elevated, so you walk through the bamboo about 8' off the ground. Very neat.

Oh stars, not quite yet.
Besides, I don't have the hair for it.

Since they are far too demure to come outside when I'm there, I haven't met most of your clutch. But the one in the green boots? Anytime! .....er.... .... gads, I am feeling sentimental.

Thats Caleb.... the one who never listens! the other 3 know to stay in the house, or at least are willing to be bribed.... "here is a snack, you guys stay in here, I will be outside for just a few minutes" Caleb grabs a handfull of cookies, and he is OUT the door....
The moso was planted after hurricane Charlie came through in 1979, I think. It was very young when i visited in the early 80s while I was attending USA. It was not there before when i visited in the late 70s.

The hurricane Charlie of 2004 was such a small bad one, the I can't remember too many other ones.

********** ROY'S BAMBOO LIST
Bellingrath has some awesome mature stands of both clumping and running bamboo, I only wish they would id them. I did notice a couple of labels, but most are unnamed.
