Hi all
I've had success propagating B. Oldhamii by the traditional single node cutting method in the past. I haven't got around to trying some of my other clumpers at this stage.
Anyhow, I recently set up an aquaponics system with flood & drain grow beds. The grow bed media is expanded clay pebbles. Once an hour the bed floods and then quickly drains supplying oxygenated water & nutrients supplied by the fish waste to the vegetables. The vegetables are thriving - my idea is to try and strike a number of cuttings in these growbeds. If they developed roots I could then remove and pot them up normally. What do you think - would it work? They would be supplied with an environment with good humidity and the once an hour flood & drain.
Has anyone had experience with trying to propagate clumpers in media other than potting mix?
I'd appreciate any opinions - I'm going to give it a go anyway because I'm curious to see what happens

Sounds like an interesting experiment. You might include B. Oldhamii in your trial since you have had good results propagating it in the past.

any results from your aeroponic attempts. I was considering setting up an outdoor ebb & flow table to take advantage of my koi ponds, but never thought about using it for bamboo.
I've tried many different medias (Perlite, vermiculite, sand, sand&compost, coco coir) to propagate my clumpers but have never had any success.
Anybody else have any tips or success stories?
