I have been able to save an ignored (at the nursery) Chimonobambusa quadrangularis (Square Bamboo). It has been in a 30 gallon pot for 2 years now and I want to divide it and put some in the ground and some into smaller pots.

Before I do this, does anyone have any helpful hints, suggestions, or things to worry about?

Thanks,

JC

This genus is not as easy as Phyllostachys to split, newer growth can be quite lacking in roots for some time. Phyllostachys rhizomes root up pretty quick, these tend to take quite a while , so trying to split this years shoots can often fail

Yours is in a pot so theirs not much advice to give really, all you can do is just chop it up and hope for the best- I probably wouldn't be too greedy on the number of splits though.
