Phyllostachys violascens 3 week old culm

Post by OKbamboo »

Here is a shot of a P. violascens shoot, now showing as culm which is 3 weeks old and about 20 ft tall already! In the background is a 1 year old culm for comparison.

Very nice! I wish we could grow 'em like that here but 2 zones too low. Nice powder-coat finish.

OKbamboo, Nice plant there, do you have any problems with this one snaping in high winds/snow the clone here is very thin walled and is probably weaker than Vivax, although the colouring is very distinct.
Bamboo...Please note... This plant is seriously addictive and you may lose interest in other, less rewarding plants!

Our winters are fairly mild, a touch of snow/ice every now and then. It has done fine here in Oklahoma for years and we do have some windy springs.
