Well my Moso shoots have been up for about 4 weeks now and now my P. Aurea has now started coming up. I have about 10 new shoots with 2 of them already at ~6" tall. I am very curious as to how my Henon will do this year. I dug a 50' tall 3" Henon culm about 2 years ago and the next year it had some 1.5" shoots. I hope it has more upsizing to it again. I had to cut it down this year as all the branches died and the culm turned light tan...dead... My other Henon has yet to show any shoots.
This one is about 4" tall and 1/2" diameter.

I think it may only be the tip of the iceburg for aurea if it is not really upsizing, and making only 10 shoots. P Aurea is supposed to be among the most prolific shoot producers so it could have been stunted by the drought last summer if it doesn't make more in the next few weeks.
It doesn't look like the summer drought is really having any effect on the performance of my fargesias so in another month or so, I'm hoping that I get an explosive shooting season, especially on the bicolor which was watered over the summer.
I think if your henon has a 50ft culm on it along with many 1.5 inchers, it is definitely on the on/off year cycle where it takes so much time just to build up enough energy to put out a shooting season, but when it does, it will come very strong.

Unfortunately the 50 footer is now a 3 footer...
