What is that monster? :D
I see it's in the forest environment, that also helps with large leaves, I have them in full sun, so they tend to have tiny leaves. :D

wow! my largest leaf is probably 7 inches. That thing is huge!

Brad (needmore) IDed it as possibly praecox based on a picture of an immature shoot (here's the thread - http://www.bambooweb.info/bb/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6260). I'm going to wait until it matures and then get a second opinion from him. It looks just like Steve's Shanghaii based on the leaf size, oral setae, and ribbed leaves. Yes it gets a lot of shade; probably only 3 hours sun per day during the summer. More now with leaves falling.
