Phy Propinqua ‘Beijing’ Flowering
I just noticed my two plants of Phy Propinqua ‘Beijing’ are flowering. Each came from a different nursery.

Looks like mine is too! It also put out half a dozen 18' culms this year in a huge sizeup, so I'm not concerned that this plant is weakened. I will be really disappointed if it dies in the next few years though...

Good luck, hope it survives! And I also hope seeds will be viable!

I've long suggested that Beijing sure looks to me like a member of the Glauca clan. Glauca 'Yunzhu' has been flowering for a few years. Might be a chance for someone to study the flowers, also would be suggestive if the other forms of Glauca flower soon.

No flowers on 'Beijing' here, just 2 very big shoots.

Mine didn't seem to start growing the flowers until after the shoots were quite tall, so check again in a week or two.

Re: Phy Propinqua ‘Beijing’ Flowering
After showing my girlfriend what flowering bamboo looks like she pointed out that mine is also flowering. I showed her a few weeks ago that my veridiglaucecens was flowering . I will try to post pictures of it tomorrow. And of course if I can figure out how to get seeds people are welcome to them.
