Is your Kwangsiensis one of the dead sticks from me? Mine is not doing anything, but this week I have a tiny shoot on Phy nigella, I had given up on it in Indiana as it looked dead but brought a piece out anyway. Might be mis-ID'd but still gives hope for some of the other dead sticks. Also have a decent shoot on a small Vivax huangwenzhu Inversa so we shoud have that species out here now.

Let's hope your Goldstripe gets like the moso in Anderson, I really think you have a shot at growing it there, give it TONS of manure!

Nope, not near the river at all, I live next to Jan Park in Carmichael so that is my east neighbor. Tootsik variegata shoots about the most variegated ones I've seen, hard to get a photo as they are down in a tall pot hidden by foliage. Hate bamboo in tall pots, no advantage and then when up-potting they are too tall for the pots I want to use. Bamboo growers must use squat pots!

Dulcis is a vigorous grower here although not shooting yet. The grove size is about 25X50. The largest culms are only a little over 2 inches but that is because I dig several hundred pounds of shoots each year usually the earliest and biggest. Dulcis, like Moso and Madake doesn't do well potted for me. If you are ever in the area I will gladly share.

Beautiful grove, do any of the culms have striping on the lower few feet?

I'll have to keep an eye out for propagation I can do, some of my unusual forms would do really well for you.

My freshly planted Atrovaginata has a huge shoot compared to original growth. See the tip of my finger for size reference and the other culm as a reference to the existing culms.
Should I be concerned since this is a #1 size plant I just bought from Maya? Hoping the shoot doesn't exhaust the energy of the plant.

First two Moso shoots this year appeared today. They are small shoots on southern side. It seems to do it the same way each year, first small shoots appear a couple of weeks before the majority of the shoots (all the large shoots) start growing.

Rufa shooting as well. Needs a good rain.
