Is it facing full sun? Winter damage or are these new leaves? I see similar damage on my denudata, I guess it's related to sunny location and the fact the soil around it is a bit elevated and can be easily dried out without regular watering.

Ya, full sun with a strong wind tunnel formed down street.
These are new leaves, last year I thought slugs were the problem as I would see them riding on the tops of shoots with the wind howling. They have a beer bath next to the clump this year so haven't seen many on the plant itself lately.
Will hope we both don't have some obscure problem, denudata leaves do feel far more delicate than any of my others.

Indeed they are. I have terrible vole issues with that plant and I'm certain it helps a lot by devouring the roots. It only managed to make 2 shoots this spring. It's now shooting in summer-like weather, but that's not the same,....

Delicate plant.
