Bambusa textilis Kanapaha'/Bambusa textilis 'Mutabilis' '

Post by Roy »

I've been making the case for a while now that these 2 are one and the same.

'Kanapaha' and 'Mutabilis' are not good names. "Mutabilis" it's not! 'Kanapaha' is a name from Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville, Florida.

So what form of textilis is it? I don't know and I don't ever remember reading about any textilis that get the size (height and diameter of culms) of these 2 (make that "this 1"). We need one name for these 2 bamboos (really one bamboo). For anyone who claims these are 2 different bamboos, then I reiterate my challenge to come on this forum and show what makes these 2 different. If you can convince me of the difference(s) between these 2, then I'll kiss the crack of your favorite culm. Plus I will also thank you!

If we do not have another name to give this form of B. textilis, then I would suggest using Bambusa textilis Kanapaha'. That would upset the least amount of people who are selling both, as Bambusa textilis Kanapaha' is the name that is used with the higher price.

Anybody want to show how these 2 are different?
