New plant list...

Post by mantis »

I received the Source List last week, and my wife asked if there was a place in the booklet that had a list of the new additions. I told her no, but thought that would be a great thing to include. It would give the members a direct view of what a lot of people ask/complain about... what new bamboos have been brought into the U.S.? Sure the ABS might not have been involved in the importations of the plants, but it would at least give members a feel that there are new species being made available in the states.

Just a thought.

There is a list of the plants on the extended list that have not been approved for the ABS list but have a source in the US. I have it in an excel file now but as soon as we get a disclaimer I will put it in a PDF.

Is this where the "extended list" gets appended, addended?
Because on June 1st '08, these two sold in public commerce:

Fargesia communis

Yushania brevipaniculata 'Wolong'

The full species list is at http://tinyurl.com/ybkkbp with the extended list being red or green.

The F. communis is on the list but has changed names a couple of times so it might not make the main list until more people can see mature plants.

I will have to add the Y. b. 'Wolong' when I get more information on it.

I do have three more that I know I need to add plus any new plants in the auction.

There are also a number of new plants that have made it into the US this last year so there will be a number of additions to the list coming up.
