Ps.a. Tonkin Cane

Post by fredgpops »

Just noticed the source list has max diameter at 2.5". A local guy makes bamboo fishing fly rods & uses Tonkin Cane (he gets them from China). I saw culms that he used in excess of 2.5". Looked like 5 to 6" but I did not measure. Rgds

That seems awful big for tonkin. I wonder if they are just telling him that's what it is.

I was given some Tonkin Cane a few years ago and it has been through temperatures down to 5°F several times now without losing its leaves. I think it is more cold hardy than the source list is showing it. I think the minimum temperature needs to be updated.

BTW, the person I got it from also feels that it is much more cold hardy than listed.

The legal issues that will arise when the undead walk the earth are legion, and addressing them all is well beyond what could reasonably be accomplished in this brief Essay. Indeed, a complete treatment of the tax issues alone would require several volumes.
