needmorebamboo.com broken/down?

Post by wolfedg »

I keep seeing references to this website needmorebamboo.com but I cannot go to that web address. Is the site down or something? I think there is/was some really good info there form what i've read.
An example is found here (see the comments section)

He is moving. Perhaps he intends to change the webhosting provider or he decided to close the website. Domain is still registered though. I'm sure he will give you an answer here.

The website is gone. I have retained the domain name for now but I am not planning on rebuilding the website soon.

Well thats shame, but its understandable. It can be expensive and time consuming to maintain a website. Hope all is going well with your move.

Sad to hear, I really liked your website.

@wolfedg you can still access the archived version (see https://web.archive.org/web/20140712203 ... amboo.com/)

I lost all of the files but if you have an archive there is no reason that I can't put it back up.

It is not my archive, there are several projects that attempt to map/archive "the internet" and it so happens that waybackmachine has taken a few snapshots of your site.
I have no idea how long they keep the image data or if they compress it (I'm expecting they do to save space).

Needmore, I am assuming that you have the originals of your photos and it is primarily the text you've lost.
If not that is a pretty harsh lesson about making backups of your own data. You have some beautiful pics on that site.

Also, hosting provider might still have the data if you didn't remove it yourself. If you just decided not to renew the services for another year, they usually keep the data on their servers in case you decide to renew it later.

They wiped out the data the day that my account expired.

No, I have no photos and it was not a harsh lesson in backups, rather it was a harsh lesson in personal life.
