Mark your calendars: the dates for LGCC's Avery Island/Jefferson Island Work Party Weekend 2010 will be Friday through Sunday, February 19-21, 2010.
E.A. McIlhenny set out his initial bamboo plantings at Avery Island “on the southern slope of the Prospect Hill Ridge, facing Little Hayes Swamp” in April 1910; therefore, next year marks the 100th anniversary of this oldest grove of his. In celebration of the event, we are planning a bigger-than-ever party, and we hope you can join us!
Forthcoming details of next year’s celebration will be posted on the Louisiana-Gulf Coast Chapter’s website and at http://www.bamboocraft.net.
