Bambusa ventricosa has survived the Winter in a new location and has put up shoots.
Southern Indiana.

The legal issues that will arise when the undead walk the earth are legion, and addressing them all is well beyond what could reasonably be accomplished in this brief Essay. Indeed, a complete treatment of the tax issues alone would require several volumes.

Phyllostachys Nigra is finally putting up 3 shoots and starting to get new leaves making it one of the latest shooters. The only ones left to shoot are d sinicus and f nitida.

Some of my 13 month old moso seedlings are starting to work on their second round of shooting for the year and I'm hoping the big one decides to make rhizomes instead of multiple shooting seasons again.

Arundinaria gigantea "Paperweight".

So the only outside bamboo not to put up shoots yet is the Ph. dulcis.

Your collection is very nice, will you keep them in small areas or can you let them make bigger groves? The picture above surprises me, the shoots on mine are very dark red do yours also turn this color?

Well, good news!!! I found a good size shoot on my 50' P. nigra 'Henon'. I am pretty sure it's a shoot but there is a chance it's just a whip. Good news anyway. It's about 2" long and about an inch in diameter.

So many nice pics!

Not much shooting in my yard yet. The D. Strictus has some small culms about six feet tall, weird since even though it freezes back every year it almost always comes back a little bigger. My Japonica put up some nice culms this year compared to previous years. It's one I keep in a container, so I've not seen that much size from it over the years. Noticed B. textilis gracilis has about six shoots popping up. Another odd sight was my potted divisions of Kimmei and Dissemulator shooting, but the parent plants are not.
Someday maybe I'll find a bamboo my wife likes...in the meantime I'll keep planting more!

P Nigra with 7 shoots total so far growing in a 5 gallon pot. One of them is around 1/2 inch in diameter.

Moso seedling. I've never seen them put out 5 shoots at once before when they're only a couple months old. I'll have to keep an eye on this one.

Steve - I'd say those horizontal ones are rhizomes that are too close to the surface. I could be wrong.

Fargesia 'Scabrida': I planted this two gallon earlier this year, and this is its second shooting . It's nice to have a Fargesia shoot when I don't have to worry about frost!
