The shoots usually start out coming horizontally off the original clump, then turn upwards and keep increasing in diameter throughout the whole process, and generating 5 new shoots on a 2 month old seedling. is pretty good since many of them haven't even made their first shoot yet, and the 2nd best one from the same batch only has 2 new shoots. The ones that are very prolific usually stay that way so I wouldn't be surprised to see it put out over 30 shoots by the end of the year.Alan_L wrote:Steve - I'd say those horizontal ones are rhizomes that are too close to the surface. I could be wrong.
I think they should take at least 2 years in order to develop rhizomes.
