I have been wondering why I have been getting soo many butterflies landing in my 1 yr. old grove recently. I went onto my neighbor's property around the back, and found some fragrant honeysuckle all twined into my boo. Needless to say I was not happy, esp. since boo was only planted early last year from a new planting site that never had honeysuckle in it. It seems as though the suckle vine was imbedded into my Bisetti root ball when it was originally planted.
What I don't understand is how come they didn't sprout up last year after they were planted and established. It took a while but I found out where the vines erected out of the ground. I clipped them at the base, and pulled out all of the vines.
My question is...
1. Is this something that I am now going to have to keep an eye on constantly?
2. Any way of using a chemical to kill the honeysuckle without killing my bamboo?
3. as I was pulling the vines out, the fragrant flowers started to fall into the grove.....will this now produce new seedling plants...or do I have to leaf blow the flowering buds out of the grove?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If you pour round up, or something similar on the fresh cut of the vine, it should draw the poison into the roots and kill it. Just be careful not to get any on the bamboo.

The flowers should not give you a problem. Let the vine come up a foot ot two and carefully brush on some 31% Roundup or generic.

2-4-D or another broadleaf hebicide should do the trick and not bother your Bamboo.
