Hmmmm! Sounds like a little bit of inbreeding going on. Sounds like the British royal family. Hey! Wait a minute. Maybe that's the reason it's call "Royal Bamboo"! I now am beginning to see the connection. The riddle is on the way to being solved!

Strangely enough, the one Buddha Belly I planted outside last year has just put up a new shoot too! It will be interesting to see if it survives a second winter.

West Central Fla.

D. asper 'Thai' in 25g pot.

D. asper 'Hitam' in 25g pot.

Guadua angustifolia 'Bi-color'.

Guadua auerocaulis in 15g pot.

Still no shoots yet from: B.sp. 'Nana', D. sp. 'Parker Giant', Guadua chacoensis, Guadua angustifolia, B. vulgaris 'Wamin' (that's 2 years without for the wamin), or the D. sinicus.
I also have a bunch of different varieties that I've recently acquired still in their original pots w/ no new shoots either. Nowhere to plant them just yet.

First round of shooting on my plants have reached full height, and are leafing out. Last night showed signs of the second round starting. During the nightly stroll I saw new shoots on:

B. doli. 'Green Stripe'
B. doli. 'Silverstripe'
B. e. 'Viridivittata'
B. lako
B. multi. 'Midori Green'
B. multi. 'Silverstripe'
B. tuldoides
G. maxima

I'm not including B. multi. 'Golden Goddess' and B. multi. 'Alphonse Karr' in this list because they never stop shooting. I think they shoot at least 10 months out of the year.
