Every now and again I'll get a stray shoot in the winter. Last week my Guadua angustifolia Bi-color put up a shoot @ about 1" in diameter. I have several potted boos putting up some small shoots now too.
They may or may not survive, it depends on a lot of factors, of which I have no idea.

It must be nice to get shoots all year long. My shooting season only goes from April until June so only get to enjoy watching my bamboo grow for a couple months out of the year.
I envy bamboo growers in the tropical zones.

You can always grow some bamboo inside in pots. That way you will have shoots emerging all year long.stevelau1911 wrote:It must be nice to get shoots all year long. My shooting season only goes from April until June so only get to enjoy watching my bamboo grow for a couple months out of the year.

I noticed today I have a Raddia brasiliensis shoot emerging.

My Bamboo List.
The legal issues that will arise when the undead walk the earth are legion, and addressing them all is well beyond what could reasonably be accomplished in this brief Essay. Indeed, a complete treatment of the tax issues alone would require several volumes.

Perhaps it is the mulch which rings the bamboo for a considerable distance from the culms and is probably 18 inches deep? Maybe the mulch insulates and keeps the ground warmer? Or I guess it could be the temps as it has been warm all week, upper 70's to low 80's.mr.mike wrote:Every now and again I'll get a stray shoot in the winter.
