My potted B. lako decided it likes where it's living

And it doesn't want to move.
When I visited boonut a couple months ago he gave me a B. lako in a small pot. I got home and put the pot on the ground next to my in-ground lako. Last night I went to pick up the potted one, but it has become one with the ground. I guess it's time to repot.

Yeah I'd say it's time to re-pot....or plant in a new location!

I put it in a 20 gallon pot... I think it was in a 3 gallon or so?
Anyway, I probably picked the exact wrong time to transplant because I just noticed a fat shoot popping up. To try and make the transition less stressful I cut the pot off in 5 pieces, and gently set the plant into the new pot, then put dirt around the pot shaped root ball. Hopefully the new shoot doesn't abort.

Allen,
Here is the Lako cutting that you gave me. The new shoot is doing great! Thanks again! I will post more pictures as it grows...

Hi Ryan,
Glad the Lako is doing great. They grow very quickly. I move most of mine from the 3 gallon starter pots to 15 gallon and then 38 gallon if I don't put them in the ground. Your boo should start putting up new shoots pretty quick. I remember the first shoot and wondering if it would stay small enough to make the Florida trip inside the cab of my truck. I would probably put that one in a larger pot. What size is that square pot? Hard to tell from the picture. Most of the cuttings from the group I did that you got and Mantis got are already in 15 gallon pots. Sorry we didn't have time to meet while in Florida.
I hope to get over that way again in the next 3 years. Next trip is to see the Dendrocalamus Giganteus at Quail Botanical Gardens.
I hope you guys will try culm node cuttings and pass on the Lako to get new "boonuts". Lako will surely get them hooked... then, tell them about bambooweb.info

Thanks again! The angle of that picture is pretty bad, but thats actually about 15 gallons. Its kind of a square, squatty sized pot. I don't plan on keeping it there very long. I am looking for a nice big tree pot... no luck on finding your amaroo pots around here yet! There wasn't as much root mass as the healthy size of that shoot made me think, so it has lots of room to grow. Keep hoping that some of those big industrial barrels will pop up on craigslist...
