Potted Bamboo

I've been looking at this Kimmei that I've had in a pot since December and thinking its probably time for a bigger pot or putting it in the ground.

Its been very bushy in the pot, not sure if its the species or because its in a pot. I would like to find something that puts up a nice diameter culm (3/4"+) and grows nicely in a pot. One that I have in a pot that is doing real well is Bambusa multiplex 'Riviereorum', but it will never get that thick. I do however really like the graceful look of it!

This grew from a single culm division 2 months ago into what is pictured.

You might look to runners. All my runners are potted and I particularly like my 'Tootsik' which is in a large pot (#95) 5/8" X 6' culms short branches highly variegated in it's second year. Will have to be thinning it a lot probably starting next year.
