Weed control

Due to my dog's love of eating bamboo, I have all my boo fenced in with 4ft fencing. The problem I have encountered is that the weeds in Florida grow about as tall as my boo if I let em. I have been to this point pulling out by hand as much as possible, but the fence makes it difficult.
Would a simple weed and feed hurt the boo? I was going to apply some for my Floratam lawn, but I'm not sure how the boo would do with it.
Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan,
I remember my suggestion to you as thought it were yesterday.
KILL THAT DOG! But since you don't want to take drastic measures, then I'll give you my experiences.
1..I have spayed Roundup on the culms of B. oldhamii and all it made it do was the branch buds produced variegated branches and leaves.
2..My father-in-law gave me some old fertilizer he had in his shed and I did not even think that it might be a weed and feed mix. Well I killed about 50 potted bamboos with it.
The best advice I can give is to "thread carefully" with any herbicide around bamboo. I wouldn't use any "weed and feed", but you possibly could spay a herbicide abound the base of your clump as long as the herbicide doesn't get on the leaves. I think if it lands on the culms the bamboo would still be safe. Remember: my advice comes with no guarantees.
