I took a small division of f nitida last fall and this year, instead of putting on size it has chosen to produce several bunches of plants almost like individual seedlings. Since these guys have taken up just about all the growing space in the 3 gallon pot and didn't have any more space to expand, I decided to remove most of them(about 20 divisions) so maybe next year, it can fill up again with these mini-plants, or start putting out real shoots.
Here's a piece I planted up with 2 plantlets which I hope can fill out its 2 gallon pot in a year.
The mother plant went from 4ft to near 6ft this year, but only spreading about 1-2 inches. It started out at 3ft tall when I bought it during the winter of 08/09 so it doesn't upsize that fast here.
