P. Nigra leaf damage, how bad is it?
It's been unusualy cold, about -16°c (3F), here in Croatia past fiew nights, and my Nigras have begun showing signs of leaf damage. About 5% of the leaves have begun geting brown spots, and about 25% of the leaves have culred like when dehydrated. I have taken steps to reduce further damage (died the plants to the ground and covered them with an insulating foil), but I'm wondering how much actual damage have they actualy taken so far? Do the brown spots mean the leaves are dead and starting to dry, or is it just localised damage with which they wll still be able to function in spring. Also, what's up with the curly ones? Is it a protection mechanism, or are they damaged?
