Is there anybody growing Pleioblastus gramineus in Texas or the deep south?
I had a beautiful 7' tall Podocarpus elongatus (icee blue) that had extensive freeze damage this past winter and is only coming back from the bottom. It's technically a zone 9 plant, but survived 4 winters. It's coming back from the bottom, but since it's slow growing, not sure if I want to keep it in the garden.
So, I have a great place for more bamboo! I like the look of the gramineus and it's size when mature. I know even though it is a runner, that it can behave like a clumper in colder climates.
Question- install barrier just in case? The location does not lend itself to my usual 2/3 sided barrier combined with trenching.
