Pleioblastus pumilus in full bloom

My Pleioblastus pumilus in now in full bloom. Is it the same situation like Fargesia nitida and after the blooming plant will die? Or I can hope my plant will recover?

great pics of a plant going into seed. I hope she makes it thru....do or did the fargias look like that too??

From what I've read, a number of bamboos, including some members of genera Phyllostachys and Pleioblastus, recover after flowering. Let's hope yours is in that number.

If not, collect seed.

My fargesia nitida has been flowering for more than a year. It puts out quite a few leaves -- along with the seeds -- but the leaves are very tiny. It's not clear who will win this contest. Here is what it currently looks like:

My Fargesia nitida has been flowering from last year and on same branches has a few leaves too.

My P. nigra flowered excessively for 10 years. Never produced any seeds, then stopped flowering and started producing new culms.

My B. tuldoides flowered. Most of it died, but not all of it, so I have the old generation growing and also the new generation seedlings.
