Schizostachyum virgatum, synonym Cephalostachyum virgatum, Thai name ไผ่เฮียะ (phai hia), is flowering in Thailand in 2014. Seeds have been collected abundantly, and a few seedlings found on the ground of flowering plants, I was told. I received a few fresh seeds. However, they did not germinate. I know from other Schizostachyum seeds (S. funghomii, S. grande, S. pingbianense) that germination rate can be rather low, even if seeds are not old. Did anybody receive S. virgatum seeds recently, and did seeds germinate?
