My neighbor had a dwarf bamboo that he was going to kill, so I cut & dug it up two days ago. It was a mature clump around 3.5' diameter at the base and I got 18 divisions off of it. 6 have been put in the ground already, but the rest will have to wait a few days.
The unplanted ones have been covered with about 6" of leaf/pine needle mulch and watered a couple times a day while being kept shaded under trees. Will these divisions last a few more days to a week before being planted? The culms are intact on the rhizome.
How long will unplanted rhizomes last?

In those conditions they should be fine for a few days, sounds like you've heeled them in and are not letting them drown nor dry out nor bake.

Good, I'd hate for all of those divisions to go to waste. I'm taking that one plant and creating a 70' hedge for the rear of my lot. Wish I could use oldhamii, but there are cable & power lines above.
