Chusquea culeou Hillier's Form

Post by needmore »

Very hard to photo, the mass of leaves make the culms lean downward and from a few feet it looks sloppy but if you lift the branches up the beautiful foliage pops. Small, unique green leaves, I'll try to get more overall photos.

How big will this get? I've always thought the Chusquea bamboos looked really nice in my bamboo books. :)

I think this one stays smaller, like 6-8 feet? Bamboo Garden has a photo of a larger one on their website, mine came from Tradewinds. Hardiness unknown, it did not notice 29F but I will be more curious how it fancies our 100F+ days ahead.

it looks nice . My Llaima is pushing . its a small division I got from Fred Last year. It took all the snow without issue and handled the heat last summer in its 2 gallon pot. so far has 2 new shoots. Culeou forms are so attractive. I wish more Chusquea would live up here
