Maybe the two in the middle are one branch that split right at the node, but it looks like 4 to me.

Odd but not rare really, Phy parvifolia I've seen with 6 branches and 4-5 on multiple nodes, not sure why that species is prone to it, check out the photo on kimmei.com where his has branches on both sides of the nodes making a tree.

Re: Bamboo shoots 2018
Hmm...I looked but to no avail...got a link?
Found 2 new shoots on the 'juiz 1' tonight. To the left and back to the right of the cluster of culms in the center of pic.
I also have a question. In the second pic of leaves, I know there's old mite damage, nothing new that I've found with much watching, but the tips are my question. It's been hot here (80-85*+ days...11 days over 90-95* over the last 3 weeks, and little rain) so I've been watering...what I feel is generously...are those tips a sign of under or over watering, or something else, in people's experience? It gets full sun from about 9 to 1, and generally we are in the 50-60% day and 70-85% night humidity. Nighttime temps 60-65. When it's over ~80 and in the sun, they don't curl up tight, but the leaves definitely 'taco,' as they do on my rubros newest leaves. No burnt tips on any other in ground boos, and I almost always water them all the same. Planted less than a month ago, 6/25.

Thanks for the link, very cool!
Found another shoot on the juiz 1, and how about this one, a black stripe on a rubro leaf? It's the only one I could find, on the new culm. I love it when plants do interesting/unexpected things...
