ID help needed.

Post by bram »

Hi,
Could somebody identify the bamboo in the attached pictures? At the moment its height is 2meters (6-7feet) but I thinks if it was not trimmed regularly it would be a little higher.
Many thanks!
Bram

Off the cuff looking at the second photo I would say Pseudosasa japonica, AKA: Arrow bamboo. There are a lot of boos that look similar to that though.

Leaves look far too small and matte for Pseudosasa don't you think?

Is it a runner or a clumper?

1st and 2nd photos show what look like typical large Arrow type leaves/branches. 3rd photo looks like a different boo. Hard to guess the scale in photos like this.

It looks more like a Fargesia to me.
Southern Indiana.
My Bamboo List.

The legal issues that will arise when the undead walk the earth are legion, and addressing them all is well beyond what could reasonably be accomplished in this brief Essay. Indeed, a complete treatment of the tax issues alone would require several volumes.

The leaves are the size of my pinkie, I think it might be a fargesia, but what kind?
