Hello. Just hoping that I can positively ID my Boo. I had asked before winter and concensus was possibly Alphonse Karr. With the new shoots now emerging and seeing some other photos of Yellow groove & vivax have me seeing similarities. Please let me know what you think.

RE: What am I??
Looks to me like: Bambusa multiplex 'Alphonse Karr'. The sheaths have always been persistent on mine too.

RE: What am I??
Hello Serenity,
I can't tell you what it is but I can tell you that is not YG or vivax a. The culm sheaths are colored wrong for either one, and the branching appears to be something other than phyllostachys. The persistent culm sheaths, and nodes and internode lengths are not the correct proportion for YG, or vivax.
It probably is A.Karr, but I don't have it so I have nothing other than pictures to go by.
It's pretty though, and seems to like it where it is, and as Martha says "that's a good thing".

RE: What am I??
Thank you all! Alphonse it is then. It really is a pretty boo, lots of shoots pushing now, some are at 15 ft and growing. Almost as many as the rubro I received from David, many thanks again.

Mine has just now begun its shooting phase. An exciting time to watch any bamboo, but this one is quite a beauty.
