BooKing-
Great! Let me know if you get them to germinate. I've sent some to 5 other people and they all have had some success.

Gil,

Sown, 12Jun06, so far, 3 healthy, vigorous, little Fargesia nitida plantlets and another seed forming a radicle and mesocotyl. I'll add some photos to this post a little later.

I have received fargesia seeds from a few people last year and have had 7 plants as of a result. All are in 1 gal pots now and are doing well. 3 are still showing variegation in the leaves. I hope to collect as much seed from different collection points as possible in the hope of having some unusual variation in the seedlings. I hope my nitida cultivars start flowering soon...

Kudzu,

5 little F. nitida seedlings, and hoping for more. Transplanted 2 to 3" pots, and they are looking great.

By the way the humilis looks good.

Thanks.

Let's just hope they can survive the tennessee summers, otherwise you might have to grow them in the refridgerator! 8)

So very true, 96 yesterday 94-95 today, and the summer drought has started. How can it be so humid, and not rain!?

I was going to plant them on the creek in mostly shade. That's probably their only hope here in Tennessee, otherwise they are trading fodder.

Our summer drought started in spring

I think I might try rufa and maybe robusta someday, but the others do sound pretty fragile. I can't even get a canadian hemlock to grow here.

Kudzu, no signs of life yet... its only been 12 days. Nothing from the Sulcata or Gansu either. But we'll just wait and see ;-D

Baby Buddhas anyone? I made a nice division last week... no signs of stress or wilt. Another week or so and they should be willing to ship.

Take care

nice... I think I'm at day 12... I lost track of which I planted and when. I started Gansu, sulcata, f. nitida and bambusa bambos right about the sametime.
Old age stinks... especially when you are 37!! those 10 years of Army life really took its toll.
