Any ideas?

I have recently moved into a new house and have been given this bamboo by my mother. I am new to all this, so have no idea what type it is. Is it a runner or a clumper? Can I put it in the ground or is it best repotted into something bigger? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Or could simply be a new generation F. nitida. This one is pretty typical of the ones we raised here though some are quite black or mature to blackish culms.
