I have a stand of what I thought was Yellow Grove (YG), but is it is shooting now and my bissetti hasn't even started. Bissettii has always been my first with YG following after.
Is there a boo that looks like YG that shoots earlier than bissetti? Or can a stand of more mature YG (which this is) shoot earlier than a less mature stand of YG (or even earlier than bissetti)?
What looks like YG, but shoots before bissettii (and YG)?

My bissetii is always a couple weeks behind my Yellow Groove. I've noticed that newer plantings can shoot earlier/later than they will eventually, once they establish the shooting order is fairly reliable.
Yellow Groove is easy to ID, look above where the branches start for the yellow grooves and run our hand up culm and it will be rough - tiny culms not so obvious but finger diameter or so you should feel it.

OK thanks. With that I'm pretty sure it's YG.
