I believe 'Holochrysa' can have green stripes on its culms.

Just make sure you are not getting vivax aureocaulis

Have you got a picture of the leaves and a closer look to the nodes ?

Hi Deane
As someone else alluded to....
This is a Vivax Aureocaulis every day of the week! :)
When the plant is young, Vivax Aureocaulis canes very often come out of the ground at all angles, whereas Bambusoides family are usually much more vertical.
Take a look at the leaves; I bet they are very long and hang straight down, which means they are Vivax leaves. Bambusoides family always have a pronounced twist or curl to the leaves, so they never look like they are hanging straight down. (I have never seen this mentioned in a book anywhere, but it makes the Bambusoides very easy for me to identify!)
Toodles!
Ed.

I have 1 or 2 in pots, can't say for sure. They seem very fussy, the more the overall variegation on the leaves the more the leaves seem to die off. I am suspecting that they hate pots or hate damp soil. My Castillonis was beautiful with cream & apricot variegation - up until it died in the pot; seeing the same behaviour on the Allgold which I've been keeping quite dry in CA summer heat.
