Fargesia robusta 'Campbell'

Post by johnw »

Five pix of 'Campbell' for Brad. Remember it doesn't get a whole lot of sun.

For comparison here are the crazy shoots of 'Rufa'. 'Rufa' is not close to the given hardiness rating and inland in Nova Scotia it has been badly damaged at -4F, about -20c. One wonders who fabricates these insane hardiness ratings.

Not that I've noticed, maybe less hairy emerging shoots but always upright. Those sheaths will be indicative.

Mine has the sheaths still attached but they are not bright white and not distinctive.

The wine color is starting to fade and is missing down in the center where it is shaded so a product of sun. The new culms are leaning over and branching in year one.

Maybe less hairy emerging shoots on Campbell when young.

BTW posts are loading and then disappearing. The Rufa shoots I posted once and uploaded it but it didn;t show when I signed out. Posted it again and it was a no show. Next time I signed in it was not there but next time it was there twice. Thius is my last attempt at posting until fixed.

The sheaths on F. Robusta Pingwu could be so described.
