Phyllostachys nigra

Post by Rotas »

I bought this bamboo in Mai and it was hard to dig up but now it has even put out new shoots :D
This was sold as Black bamboo but I see the new shoots have green canes so maybe this is some other cultivar of Phyllostachys nigra?
Can this be correct or could this be anything else?

Hi Rotas, P. Nigra's culms emerge from the soil green. It takes between a few months to three years for the culm to change colour, depending on which clone you have.
Boohoo?
