Anyone know where the best place to buy the following book might be?

Prices are all over the map.

Bamboo Garden was where I got mine, but that was years ago and a lot cheaper than they sell it now ($150).

I will send you a note where there is one online.

Bought this book last weekend to be shipped to from Eugene, Oregon due east to Nova Scotia - same latitude. UPS. On Monday it was in Eugene and scanned in as international mail. Via parcel tracking today it is now in Los Angeles.

Well, that's UPS for you. All the US Postal stuff goes through Seattle from here. Since Federal Express invented shipping hubs, the others all do the same. Do not expect direct routing. At least you got a half price copy, and it seems like it is in near new condition with a good dust jacket.

Schmu - The book arrived Wednesday while I was away. Absolutely mint condition. Seems once it left LA it was not scanned by Canada post but got here in a total of 6 business days, the USPS sticker said 21 days. Great pictures and essential details but would have liked more info and maps on ranges, altitudes etcs., still appears to be the best we have. Some strange mistakes that the English proof-reader should have caught - - ie phgmea, pagiryfera

Sorry I confused USPS with UPS.

English proof-readers in China? That is a laugh. I used to work with an engineer from inland China and he leared 'Engrish' from a woman that wrote but did not speak English. Which is typical from what he told me. He was virtually impossible to understand.

The Chinese and Japanese use different names for bamboo genera and species than we do, and the Europeans use other ones as well.
The book is not very detailed in several ways. It is mostly photos. There are few good books on boos though. Many are hard to find for anything less than a ransom. Some are dirt cheap for whatever reason.

I assumed Mr. Bob Caso of the USA who is mentioned was the English proof-reader. Apparently he just was a financial backer.
