The massive bicolor shoot rose up from 9 inches yesterday to 12 inches today as opposed to only a 1 inch gain on the 2 previous days so the warmup is certainly having some effects. Based on a sheath measurement, depending on which way I measure the shoot, it can be anywhere between 1.5 and 1.7 inches in diameter as they are kind of ovular.

I'm just hoping that the temperatures in the next 2 weeks will be at least average if not better so this guy doesn't end up as stunted as a a moso heteroclyca. Breaking 10ft would be satisfactory.

The spectabilis looks like its shoots are hardly growing, but it may have tried to make more than it could support as it has 28 shoots on 4 culms, mostly a bit bigger in diameter too so it also depends on warmer conditions to get an increase in height.
